The Hollies is based at 53 Audnam, Stourbridge, DY8 4AE and will be open to the public on designated days. We have a library, shop and exhibition rooms on the ground floor. Special arrangements can be made to view items from the collection on the first floor, where needed.

Lace Identification When booking a visit, please request 'lace identification' so you can be matched to a volunteer with the skills to identify lace or give information on the lace you bring in.

Museum Reserve Collection Please make an appointment in advance if you wish to see or study items from the Museum's Reserve Collection.

​

Payments We are accepting cash and card payments in our library for items bought in the shop.

Did you know? You can book an appointment to view lace-related artefacts from our Permanent Collection or visit our library... When you book your visit to The Hollies, remember to ask what is on offer, and make a day of it!

Accessibility

Visitors with disabilities, hearing or sight impairment, or those who are wheelchair users are advised to contact The Hollies in advance, so that we can make sure we have the appropriate staff and facilities available.

Visitors with a physical disability: The Exhibition Room and Library are on the ground floor. There is an entrance with a level path for wheelchairs at the back of the building. Please phone if any other assistance is needed, e.g. reserved parking space. We have a downstairs toilet available for access. The Reference Library, Archive and Reserve Collection are on the first floor and are currently closed. Arrangements can be made for research students.

 

Visitors with impaired hearing:  An information sheet for visitors with hearing loss will be given on entry. Paper and pencil will be provided if required to enable communication. Arrangements can be made for signed support for group visits.

Visitors with impaired vision: Information and exhibition lists are available in large print. All Lace Guild forms and information sheets can be copied to a larger size and magnifying lenses provided on request. Visitors with a visual impairment can be guided round the building and furnished with items that can be handled.

Getting to The Hollies

By Car: The Hollies is on the A491 between Stourbridge and Wolverhampton. The name of the road is Audnam. The front door faces the main road; the back door and small car park are reached from an entrance on Junction Road.

From the south or east: leave the M5 at junction 4 and take the A491 to Stourbridge; continue on the A491. When you join the ring-road, keep in the outside lane (Wolverhampton exit), go through the third main set of traffic lights and over the brow of the hill, The third little road on your left you will find Junction Road, turn here and immediately turn right.

​

From the north: leave the M6 at junction 12, take the A5 towards Telford then turn left at the first roundabout towards Wolverhampton on the A449. Follow this through Wolverhampton then take the A491 to Stourbridge. After Kingswinford look out for the Redhouse Glass Cone on the left, then the VW dealer on the right immediately before The Hollies.

Parking: turn through the gates and into the Lace Guild car park. Parking space is limited on site, you may need to park on Junction Road, which runs along the side of the building. Please do not park on the hardstanding outside the Hollies as this is not owned by us.

​

By Bus: The Hollies can be reached by bus from Wolverhampton or Stourbridge using the No.16 or 17 which run roughly every 15mins at peak times. Ask for the VW Garage. Journey time from Wolverhampton is approx. 45 minutes, 10 minutes from Stourbridge, exact fare is needed or use contactless to purchase your ticket on the bus.

By Rail: There are frequent rail services from Birmingham New Street to Wolverhampton, and some indirect services from New Street to Stourbridge Junction (change at Smethick Galton Bridge), with more frequent direct services from Moor Street and Snow Hill stations. Change at Stourbridge Junction for Stourbridge Town, then take a bus to reach The Hollies.
