Saturday 1 - Sunday 2 June  10am - 4pm
Coloured Honiton Lace with Doreen Creed

This is a workshop for those with some experience, inspired by the coloured Honiton lace in the Hidden in Stores Exhibition.

Doreen Creed is an experienced Honiton lacemaker, having specialised in it for more than 30 years using traditional techniques.

She started making bobbin lace in 1983 and won the Visitors Choice trophy at The Lace Guild competition in 2004 for her map of the United Kingdom.

Doreen enjoys working with colour, 3D work, and experimenting with techniques from other laces. She says that Honiton should not frighten people, it does not have to be difficult and it should be fun.

She is becoming a sought-after teacher, with classes as far afield as Kent, Wales and Somerset. Recently she has been experimenting, using different threads and techniques used in other laces, to work out easier methods.

To take part in this course you will need basic lace techniques.

All students will be contacted prior to the course to discuss and agree what they would like to learn. If you want to bring your own Honiton project to work on, Doreen is happy for you to do that and help you where you need it.
