Mavis Thompson - Torchon Lace including Miniature

Enjoy a day making Torchon Lace – either full size, bigger or miniature (suitable for dolls’ houses). The corner pattern can be worked in miniature as a shawl or enlarged for a scarf end. The bedspread (in colour here) can be reduced in width as a table runner for a dolls’ house or enlarged and widened to work a scarf, which could be worked with various threads, including textured, metallic and plain.

Susan Roberts - Coloured Binche Snowflakes

SNOWFLAKES DON'T HAVE TO BE WHITE! Anyone who has worked Belgian or Honiton laces has probably worked snowflake ground, lovely small white crisp snowflakes worked in Egyptian gassed No 80 or finer. But what about working them just as snowflake strips, enlarged to Cotton Perle 12 thread size and in colour? Coloured cloth stitch snowflakes are predictable in terms of the colour patterns you create but half stitch snowflakes result in unexpected thread paths and patterns. Why not come along to this workshop and have a play with coloured half stitch snowflakes? If you’ve not worked snowflakes before you can choose to start with cloth stitch version, alternatively if you have worked snowflakes before and want to play with different varieties at a normal (or large) scale that’s fine.

Eve Corrall - Lacy Landscapes

Come and create your own landscape using simple bobbin lace techniques and a variety of threads to create texture and effects to make a land-, sea- or skyscape. Basic patterns will be provided, giving the opportunity to try different ideas and personalise your piece. Thread packs will be for sale (with proceeds going to The Lace Guild).

Sarah Thomas - Book and Paper Fun

Make a series of small books using sewing, folding, cutting and gluing techniques, and some surprises. Always popular as short workshops at Convention, you now have the chance to explore these useful little note and display books in more depth.

There will be a small charge for materials, approximately £5.
