The Elephant Parade

Your elephant parade is slowly growing. Ann Wild has produced some prickings from the original elephant shape in YLM issue 112. The green elephant above with a plaited ground fillingis one of them — it was worked using five pairs of DMC Special Dentelles 80 for the braid outline. More pairs will be needed for the filling. There are two other prickings, one with a Scandinavian ground filling and the other with a rose ground filling. All three prickings and one for the basic outline can be downloaded as a PDF file.

Ianthe's design for an elephant

Ianthe has produced a lovely idea for an elephant. Her design will make up well in lace.  Don't forget to send your designs to The Hollies for us to share with you all.

There is another elephant design in YLM 113 (August). Don't forget to renew your Young Lacemaker membership, so you don't miss out.

Update: October 2012

There are three more of your designs in the November edition of Young Lacemaker. Unfortunately, there wasn't room for Gabby's designs, so they are featured here on the website instead.

Her first design has been worked in blue Perlé 8 and a button sewn on for the eye after the lace was mounted.

Her other design was also worked in Perlé 8; sequins, to represent the circles in Gabby's design, were stuck onto the backing after the lace was mounted.
