pamela nottingham's bobbins - closed bid auctions for members only

Pamela Johnson MBE sadly passed away in 2023. Pamela - née Nottingham - was one of the first authors of modern lacemaking books; her obituaries were published in Lace Autumn Issue 192 (pp.22-25).

Pamela made a generous bequest for the benefit of The Lace Guild, which included her working tools (i.e. her lacemaking bobbins). While some of these have been added to the museum collection, those not kept by The Lace Guild will gradually be sold. Over this membership year we are initially offering some of Pamela’s bobbins for sale to Lace Guild members only, by closed bid auctions.

Auction 1 is now closed, Auction 2 will open at the end of October 2026 when Lace 204 is published.

We would prefer you to use the online form but will also accept paper entries made using the pull-out form published as an insert in Lace 203. You can bid for more than one lot if you wish. Each lot has a reasonable, unpublished, reserve price.

Bids for each lot will be considered in isolation. The individual auctions will last from publication date to midnight on the first of the month; approximately four weeks after publication. This is also the deadline for receipt of paper entries at The Hollies, regardless of the day of the week.

These auctions are not open to non-Guild members; your membership number must be on your
electronic or paper bid submission form. Forms without a membership number will not be
considered.

Pictures of the next 12 lots will be featured here, and all items are sold as seen, here and in Lace 203-206.

The full list of conditions is included in both versions of the form so please read carefully before submitting your bid.
Good luck!
